Iso starter to solenoid cable

Post by Dano1 » Sun Apr 09, 2017 11:49 am

Bought a new starter for my 84 xv1000 and the connecter for the cable is in a different place. Now my cable that connects from the starter to the solenoid is too short. Anyone have a longer cable?

Cheapest way is to make one. Take the cable off go to home depot and get the equivalent gauge wire, cut to length needed, crimp and solder on new eyelets and Voila, new cable!! Easy Peasy.

Tried that. Couldnt find a connector that fit the starter and accept a 6guage wire

Try an electrical supply house in your neighbourhood. I know they have them. Do you have the correct starter for your bike? Cable Mounting Screw should be in the same location as the old starter. Lay them next to each other if possible and post a picture here.

Dan, here's another way to get a copper end for your cable cheaper than buying the expensive pre fabricated ones. Make your own for pennies. View this links video. You are going to love this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpFb_Yxl_hA
