DOES FUEL STABILIZER HAVE A SHELF LIFE? [INFO.]

Post by ViragoJoe » Sun Nov 21, 2021 3:28 pm

FUEL STABILIZER: like StaBil Fuel Stabilizer.

Yes, Boys and Girls. Similar to Oil, your Fuel Stabilizer has a Shelf Life also!

What is the Shelf Life of STA-BIL® Fuel Stabilizer?

https://www.goldeagle.com/tips-tools/sh ... tabilizer/

Remember: Sta-Bil is good for 2 years after opening the bottle. Don't forget to place opening date on the back of the bottle. You don't want to find that your Fuel has lost its punch and gone stall and began to gel :!:

Yes sir, I've seen that video before. Interesting non the less.
As a general rule, the simpler the oil formulation, the longer the shelf life.
Below are my findings regarding Oil shelf life and ZDDP requirements needed in engine oils for our Virago's.

Yup, saw that one also.

This is what I use in my Virago: Rotella T4 15W40 Conventional Diesel Engine Oil (Dinosaur Juice).

Technical Data Sheet for this oil below. I think I'm good with all the different ratings imposed by JASO (Japanese Automobile Standards Organization) and API (American Petroleum Institute) folks.

And my Oil choice is still much cheaper then the oil containers with labels that say Motorcycle Specific Oil and come with a much heftier price tag for a label (now that's what I call marketing!). Like I've said, Oil discussions can really open up a can of worms. One has to do research for the oil decided upon. If folks want to Spend Big $$$ more for a label that says Motorcycle Specific. Who I'm I to stop them! It's their money.

Yup!

Always go to the Technical Data Sheet, it saves a lot of guess work and wasted time. Producers choose what goes on the containers label. They only provide what they think is pertinent. You'll notice that Shell doesn't say anything about motorcycle compatible on their label either. Just API (American Petroleum Institute) standards information. Why only API information? I have no idea. However, the Technical Data Sheet is the law of the land.
