Not being familiar with Harley FLT tanks and how they mount and there physical size. I myself really can't answer your question. We would need more information. What you are wanting to put it on is important, as well.

A 97' 535S
Theres a tank on ebay right now so thought to ask.
I don't mind what tank as long as its an approximate shape to the original, I don't mind modding, I could paint it nicely to match.
Would like to boost range as I'm told its only going to cover 100 miles.

Before 1995 the fuel tank for 535's was a dummy and the tank was located under the seat between the frame rails. https://www.cheapcycleparts.com/oempart ... /fuel-tank

After 1995 the Upper tank will carry a small amount of fuel, however, the bulk of fuel still goes to the tank under the seat. Your total capacity is 3.5 Gallons that will provide you with 193.5 MPT (per tank). At 55.3 MPG. http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/yamaha/virago_xv535.

A Virago 1100 (43 MPG) with 4.4 gallons will provide 189.2 MPT. That is about the average miles per tank for most Virago's. About 200 miles per tank on average on flat land with a strong tail wind and easy on the throttle. Best I've ever gotten on an 1100 was 50 MPG, worst was 38 MPG.

The guy I bought it off was telling me how he got 45 mpg, and on the advert claimed to cruise at 80 mph. I do wonder if it will need a tune somewhere, especially as he paid for his servicing and never lifted so much as a spanner to adjust the bars.
