Rebuilding my carbs for my bike and a small spring popped out of each carb and I’m not sure where it supposed to go.

First and foremost when working on any Japanese manufactured products save yourself from damaging screws that look like they are Phillip Screws. Because they are not! They are J.I.S. (Japanese Industry Standards) and require J.I.S. screwdrivers.

There's a good chance they popped out or off the Pilot Adjustment Screws.

I’m located in Florida and I thought they might have come from the pilot adjustment screws but wasn’t sure and every disassembly video doesn’t show the springs so far that I’ve found.

The springs are what holds the screws settings in place. Otherwise they can vibrate out of adjustment.

See if the springs fit over the Pilot Adjustment Screws. There aren't any springs in the Float Bowl area.

See Hitachi Carburetor Article and you will see springs on the Adjustment Screws.

The diagram in the Hitachi Article above confirms that is where they go.

They had to be physically removed from the screws, during Carburetor rebuild tear down.

Any screw that requires to be a settings screw will have a spring associated with it. Like the synchronizing screw to balance the carburetors and Throttle Stop Screw with Spring.

Pilot Adjustment Screw XV750
First the spring is placed on the pilot screw. Then the washer. Then the O ring.
Pilot Screw Assy XV750.png

"People looking at the carb blowups in the factory manuals, and Clymer, get confused as to the proper way to place components on these Version 2 screws--particularly when they didn't pay close attention when they removed them.

Version 2 was used in the 1983 920's and in the '84 and'85 700's and 1000's. The '84/'85 carbs can be recognized by the green Teflon coating applied to the slides. A port was also added on the outside of the right carb (California models) to pull fumes from the charcoal canister back into the engine for burning. The canister collects raw gas fumes from the carbs and gas tank.

With the advent of the 1100 in 1986, Version 3 of these carbs made its appearance. The main (and perhaps only) difference was the addition of a "Coasting Enricher" circuit which had the effect of richening up the pilot circuit on deceleration by cutting off half of the "premix" air supply to that circuit. The intent was to promote better burning and reduce backfiring caused by a lean misfire condition."

You may want to reread the Virago Hitachi Carburetors article below especially under Hitachi Carburetor Versions 2 and 3 it will explain a lot of things regarding the carburetors on your 1983 XV920.

In the below Video fast forward to timing mark 19:10 where he discusses the Pilot Screw. I think you may have missed it earlier. Regarding the original Pilot Screw vs the replacement pilot screw. Version 1 Hitachi carburetor didn't have a spring. The O-ring held the Pilot screw setting in place. In the later Hitachi carburetor versions the spring, and washer were added to the O-ring. See picture in the post above this one, showing Pilot Screw, Spring, Washer, and O-ring.

I am just getting to read your reply’s and I will go over the information, I have yet to put the carbs back in and give it a try after fully rebuilding and using compressed air. If it still will not start I was planning to try to start the bike under different conditions. I have read somewhere that the tachometers on this bike can go bad and prevent it from starting. I would need to go back and find where I read it so I could source that info and another thing I’ve heard is the kickstand relay can do the same. I was thinking to bypass the switch to test if that could be the issue. Do you have any suggestions of any other simple tests on various things that are small details that could not allow it to start?

Just want to thank you for all your insights so far. I really appreciate you taking the time to help. The book is very fuzzy when it comes to the carbs and this is my first time so I would of been lost.
