- What Virago you Own: 1996 Virago Special XV1100SH
Fired up my Virago yesterday on my 12 year old battery. I did take her battery down to its knees pretty quick. Popped my float charger on the battery for about an hour. Sprayed Starting Fluid in the Spark Plug holes. Choke on full. Pressed the starter button momentarily and she ROARED to life within the first turn over. That's the secret. A definite DO! After a long winters nap use Starting Fluid. That way she can really gulp in gas vapor and not need the Battery and Starter to do all the work trying to get her to breathe in strongly. The first pops from the Starting Fluid does the trick and makes it so much easier for her to breathe in. One would think, since I do this with all my gas powered lawn equipment, so I don't wear myself out yanking a starter rope til exhaustion. Why wouldn't I have thought to do this with my virago also. Go figure.
