Thanks to all who have helped! We have until end of March to pay for the server. As of right now we are only about $160 short. So we are very close. I'm sorry I can't cover it but my personal situation is bad bad. Ride safe if it's warm enough out where you are because it has been freezing here in Michigan. Take care of yourself and yours.

just a update, not had alot of time as of late to work on it, I have named it Bill.... not sure if yall name your cars and bikes but we do, ever watch the postman? remember kevin costners mule? his name was bill and he was not picky about what he drank even slightly irradiated water. and my brown bike drinks low test 10 percent eth. i am pourposly trying to get it tuned to run on it instead of better gas.

its running pretty smooth now, i put on the new petcock, replaced the fuel tubes and added a seprated fuel filter on each side. also found out why the old petcock was not working right i think. it had no filter/tube assembly so was like it was on prime all the time more or less plus i am sure the old vaccume pump on it was gone.

its still cutting out the front sometimes randomly, but when i lean it out which i still think its running to rich, but when i lean it out it runs less well. could i use the carbs off my 86 1100 parts bike on the 700 without to much problem? if so i might try changing the carbs out and see if its happier or less happy.. keep in mind po removed the ais on this bike but rest is stock...

anyways i will check in and update yall more on how things are going as soon as i get some time to work on it. still spending alot of time dealing with ins company and servpro trying to get the garage and house etc fixed from that fire.

playful,

Your bike is really a girl. Look up Virago. You might be able to get away with Billy.

Both engines are 75° degree engines and the carbs should work.

Provided the throttle cabling is the same.

What year is the XV1100? 1988 onward have Mikuni carbs. Was it burned in the fire. The rubber components in the carburetors may be melted making them toast.

the 1100 that burned was a 87, the parts donor i still have is a 86 1100.. poor thing is slowly getting picked apart haha.

i might use alot of whats left on the 86 1100 and put it on the 87 1100 in a attempt to rebuild it, not sure yet... (even thought of clearcoating the flame burned tank etc on it for a laugh)

first bike i want to rebuild after the garage is rebuilt is the 73 rd350 i think as it was my grandfathers, and was the least affected by the fire, i mean most the plastic and rubber melted off but most of the metal survived even most of the seat foam survived. i think its also the best cannidate for a rebuild plus grandpas should be first just cause it was his....

but i was wondering which carb would be better for it. i know the jets may need adjusting if i switch them, but i was thinking it may run better with the 1100's jets im not sure.

yea i am not sure i understand why the smaller engine takes a larger jet, seems backwards to me. im sure there is a reason but seems like the 700 would take less gas than the 1100 so would take a smaller jet. that being said first tank i got 100 miles on 3 gallons as it sits. so a bit low on mpg but it is preferring running rich.(plus i know you lose about 10 percent mpg with 10 percent ethonol, funny how that works huh) so thats what about 33 mpg should be closer to 45 i have idle set to about 1100 rpm 1k felt a hair low when it hunts around that plus or down 50to 100 rpm as it idles, i do still have to do a final sync so that may help.

its slowly getting there, at least it runs good enough to go accross town, not sure id test it to go much further away yet. but it is getting there.

woke up this morning to it being laying on its right side, i had it up on its center stand and with the rain the ground gave way on the right side so it went over.. i think ill dig the ground out and put in a few paving stones for it to park on as soon as i get some time, i have to do digging and stuff pretty slow due to heart problems so cant dig for long without a break, but i can still do it im just slow haha..

anyways as always thank you Joe you are wonderful.
