Thanks to all who have helped! We have until end of March to pay for the server. As of right now we are only about $160 short. So we are very close. I'm sorry I can't cover it but my personal situation is bad bad. Ride safe if it's warm enough out where you are because it has been freezing here in Michigan. Take care of yourself and yours.

1993 XV535 NO power to bike after winter season (Nashville TN)

Post by neatocary7 » Tue Mar 29, 2022 1:23 pm

Hello all,

My 535 had been running great last summer/fall, then I stowed it away for winter. After pulling it out this Spring and trying to start her up, I got NO power at all. No dim light or anything. I then removed the battery and did a slow trickle charge overnight and still got NO power to the bike at all. I am sure I charged it correctly for I have used this charger for this battery and others in the past. I understand the battery may not hold a full charge, but I figure it should give at least some kind of power after a overnight charge.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Test battery. Check Fuses.
Even if you have charged it over night it could still be bad.
Don't worry; It's supposed to sound like that.

neatocary,

First question how old is the battery?

Wet Cell or AGM?

Was the battery kept on a trickle charger for the winter? Should have been.

A fully charged battery is 12.6 volts a little higher for AGM's.

Charge your battery over night. Then in the morning take it to you friendly (or not so friendly) auto parts store and have it load tested. Service is usually free. If it fails, time for another battery. Try to replace it with a Yuasa AGM. Mine lasted 13 years before the electronic genie gave up the ghost!
