Re: 1992 XV535 Won't Start (U.K.)
I have a Q about the front cyl compression at 25. That could just be bad clearance causing the valve to not close all the way could it not? Also my 1994 xv535 runs like crap misfiring when the reserve sw is in the reserve position. So I never let the mileage past 120 miles before refueling. Also do ...

Re: 1994 YAMAHA XV535 INADEQUATE TOP END SPEED (Georgia U.S.A.)
I purchased a Kawasaki 500 Spectre that had no top end speed. Drove me crazy checking everything okay including compression. Finally turned it over to a mechanic, turned out that the cam chain was off by a few links.

Yes Joe, it has been taken off Craigs List. But you never know what this old fool may try at any given day or time.

Back in the fold
Tried out a 2007 AN400 Burgman Scooter. Not to my liking. The only plus about it was the huge storage space under the seat. Handling in the twisties was scary. I'll stay with two wheelers that have the larger, better handling wheels/tires.

Joe, what about the high resistance spark plug wires, wont they cancel the effect of that low resistor plug?

Re: 1993 Virago XV535 cuts out + other issues
Is the reserve switch on the right handlebar in the reserve position? When I switched to reserve the last time my motor started misfiring and running badly. So now I never let it get low enough to have to use reserve. Mainly because that valve is in a snollygoster position to work on.

Re: 1993 Virago XV535 cuts out + other issues
you stated that one time or other it had to cool down 10 minutes before it would restart. That definitely makes me think of an electrical problem. I will take a look at my 1994 xv535 wiring diagram and get back to you.

Re: 1993 Virago XV535 cuts out + other issues
I wish that I had an answer for you. But the only thing that I know for sure is that when open pipes are installed the bike WILL run like hell even to the point of occasional backfiring unless larger jets are installed. Re: oily plug, could possibly be caused by bad piston rings and or not firing pr...

Re: FUEL STABILIZER COMPARISON TEST
Joe, I have been using Stabil for several decades on everything that uses Gasoline, And every motor that I have used it on has never failed to start right up next Spring. The reason that Stabil gets a bad name is because the users fail to follow the instructions on the bottle properly. I occasionall...
