Re: Identify my Bike, Suppose to be a 1987 XV535 (Malta)

Ahhhh ViragoJoe thanks so much for your help! I am sorry for the mess about the VIN, they really looked like "O" (letters), they look different with the first 2 "O" (numbers) so I supposed they were numbers and letters. Anyway, I am not so worried about the papers, if the DMV guys are happy with th...

28k on my XV535, 1987. I am not sure if the number can be trusted though.
28,000 Kilometers would be ~17,400 miles

However, since your XV535 is a U.S.A transplant to Malta. 28k Miles would be correct with a MPH Speedometer.

Re: Identify my Bike, Suppose to be a 1987 XV535 (Malta)

pieru, Found you VIN problem JYA2GV007HA OO 3979 (Letters) Should have read:......... JYA2GV007HA 00 3979 (Numbers) But, there are more headaches: No Model Specified! No Engine Displacement Specified! This is where it all began. Lack of that information followed the bike right over to Malta. How to ...

Re: Identify my Bike, Suppose to be a 1987 XV535 (Malta)

ViragoJoe, thanks a lot for your reply! I already contacted the DMV, I recently bought the bike and I had to get new plates because it was garaged. The DMV provided a new logbook with all the information they have, I know the bike was registered in Malta in 1995 and (I think) they made a mistake wi...

Re: 1987 (?) Virago XV535 (Malta)

You got it! The front tank is dummy so it must be a 1987 model. As you said it must be an early model because when I try to look for parts, on some websites the XV 535 is registered from 1988 on. dummy tank.jpg For U.S.A. market XV535: 1987/88 Just Under Seat Fuel Tank. 1990 Was first Year to have ...

Re: Identify my Bike, Suppose to be a 1987 XV535 (Malta)

Hi guys, I recently bought an old Virago and we need help now. The very first step should be to correctly identify the bike so I can try to look for the correct parts we need. It should be simple but I am confused because the logbook seems to be mess. I live in Malta and in the logbook I find: Vehi...

Re: 1987 (?) Virago XV535 (Malta)

Your answer solves my first doubt, thanks!!!!!! If your tank happens to be a Dummy Fuel Tank. You have an earlier model XV535. Later models came with a functional Upper Front Fuel Tank, besides the one under the seat. 1987 & 88 XV535 were under seat Fuel Tanks only. 1990 XV535 was the first year fo...

Hi Guys, about one year ago I found this beauty (XV535) it was love at first sight. Right now it's still a one sided love but I am making progresses :D

Re: How many miles on your Virago?

43k on mine, 81 XV750. It is still in good shape. WOW! For a 40 year old Virago with only 43K, it isn't even broken in yet. The bike basically averaged 1,000 MPY (Miles Per Year). These bikes are phenomenal. They will take you to the corner store or across the Nation! If you took a ride from your h...
