Re: 1985 XV1000 one pipe spraying unburnt fuel (Edmonton Alberta)
rsguetre, Well, after I switched the manifolds, I got ready to do the synchronization with my newly built manometer. Went to warm up the bike and it STILL runs on only the rear cylinder, but this time... instead of just cold "exhaust" coming out of #2 pipe, I get a spray of unburnt fuel. ===========...

Re: 1985 XV1000 one pipe spraying unburnt fuel (Edmonton Alberta)
rsguetre, Then I built one of those manometers that was suggested on this forum so that I could do a final synch on the carbs. It was then that I noticed that the carb manifolds were reversed and I thought that I might have accidently put them back on the wrong cylinders when reinstalling them (the ...

Re: 1987 XV535 Pick-up Coil replacement (Kingsport TN)
I currently am working on a 1987 XV535 here in the US. I was able to get it started momentarily but it was only firing on the from cylinder. When I let off the gas the bike dies. I have checked the coils, TCI, stator and rectifier. When I check the pick-up coil I get no reading. I am attempting to ...

Re: Flyscreens [SOLVED]
Joe, I bet Miss Behaven is up from her winter nap. I wonder if you may have a moment to take a full-frontal picture of the windscreen and take a couple of measurements of the windscreen? and maybe a close-up on the way it mounts? I'm eager to find something that I can put on my bike this season. I ...

Re: 1993 XV750 Front suspension gunk (Zealand - Denmark)
Thank for your input. I went ahead and drained the oil as a first step, but I am awefully tempted to do as you say and give the fork a full on service. Doesn't look too difficult and there is even a nicely made video on youtube of the operation. Thanks for the tip on the oil. I didn't notice the gu...

Re: 1993 XV750 Front suspension gunk (Zealand - Denmark)
I bought the bike a month ago. No idea on last fork work. I have the Haynes manual and I am reading the front suspension bit now. Is it enough to do a "Fork oil change" to start with? ============ Sok, At this juncture, I would go with a complete rebuild of the front forks after 29 years. By the lo...

Re: 1985 xv750 stator help! Vancouver Island Canada
Sounds like a trial and error situation is required then. I've ordered up one that looks identical to the old one for an 85 700 so fingers crossed that it works. Should be here next week. I'm about two and a half hours away from shawnigan ========= Hayden, Let us know, if that works out for you wit...

Re: 1994 XV750 Fuel air ratio adjustment screw (Sarasota FL)
luna, Below is an excerpt taken from an article found on this site. It discusses the Carburetor Pilot Circuit : quote * Adjusting Your Pilot Screws: These screws control the mixture in your pilot circuit, which controls off-throttle running (idle and deceleration) and running when the throttle is cr...

Re: 1981 XV750 Timing Chain (open end chain as a replacement) (Gold Coast, Australia)
My timing chains are pretty stretched and need replacing - tensioners are fine. Has anyone used a open end chain as a replacement rather than removing flywheel and split gears etc I was hoping to get a open chain and connect to it and thread it on that way. ========================== j.c, Just an a...
