Re: 1983 Virago XV920 Hitachi Carb Version #2 Float Height Woes (Florida)

I'm located in Florida Joe. After reading over that article I did a little bit of trial and error and at roughly about 15.5 mm from the gasket surface to the top (bottom) of the floats got me about where I think I need to be. Ali, Glad to hear that you have somewhat determined a starting point to w...

Re: 1983 Virago XV920 Hitachi Carb Version #2 Float Height Woes (Florida)

For the life of me I cannot locate what my float level should be. I have the service manual and I can't find anything other than using the clear tube method for measuring the fuel in the floats. I have tried this method and cannot seem to get it right. Not matter my adjustment of the floats the lev...

Re: 1998 XV535 Throttle close cable on twist grip

Hey, So I have just removed and fitted my carbs again and I was very careful with the throttle cables (Open & close) as last time I got some snaggiing at the twist grip, but once again it happened. It seems that this Open Close arrangement is not on all Virago's and that the return cable is fitted ...

Alex,

I agree, the screw in type gauge is much better and more actuate! There is no compression leakage that the hand held can cause and in your case has.

Re: 1998 XV535 Misfiring on front cylinder (Finland) [Work In Progress, Results Pending]

Hey, So just a very quick update as Im still installing the carbs, but I made a new pressure check with my trusty chinese pressure meter and got better results than previous. They are basically as the minimum spec but basically the same. XV535 cylinder pressure back.jpg XV535 cyliner pressure front...

Re: 1985 Yamaha virago xv1000 runs great for a few minutes Then dies (Vermont) (Pending Update Information)

So I unplugged my connection on the back of my tack and took it down the road. It road great for about 2 minutes. Then it started to cut. It’ll idle fine when it’s acting up. But it when you try to take off that it will act up I also forgot to mention that I’ve also replace plugs and new coils on i...

Re: 1992 Yamaha xv250 blowing smoke (Australia)

Uno, Right you are about the compression being 156 PSI. I was looking at the General Spec's on page 9 that was page 2 on the manuals page numbering for General Specs. I didn't know there was another section for different model XV250's. I just found it odd that it wasn't there for that particular mod...

Re: 1992 Yamaha xv250 blowing smoke (Australia)

Hi folks. I recently purchased a 1992 xv250 for my first bike in order to learn on. However, I'm having a few issues with it. The bike has been sitting for a prolonged period. When I purchased it both tires were flat, the battery was dead, the fuel was stale and the front brakes had seized on. I co...

Re: 1983 XV500 Exhaust (Chicago, IL.)

Ug. I think my brain completely misfired today. Yes. XV500K. I will edit my posts above to avoid future confusion for others. I think if the MAC 2+2 exhaust will fit - I will go that route. It says XV500, looks right, and as you mention its a regular exhaust not straights so it should be comparable...

Re: 1983 XV500 Exhaust

Agreed. The single year makes it rough. It's a XV500F. Mostly I'd just like the more standard cruiser style exhaust on one side instead of the dueling trumpets. The only option at all I have found is the MAC 2 into 2 https://www.ebay.com/itm/171267091385?hash=item27e0506bb9:g:ULgAAOSwP4xhAbD6 Yamah...
