Re: 1986 XV1100 project bike, Minneapolis, MN

Hey all, I'm new to motorcycles but got my hands on an 86 XV1100 and am working on getting it running and looking nice. I also have a 700 I'm using for parts, wires, and to try things on first so I don't screw something up. I've gotten some good info so far on this forum, so thanks so much. I am al...

Re: 1983 Yamaha xv920 virago carb help (Springs Popped Out) (Florida) (SOLVED)

I’m located in Florida and I thought they might have come from the pilot adjustment screws but wasn’t sure and every disassembly video doesn’t show the springs so far that I’ve found. You may want to reread the Virago Hitachi Carburetors article below especially under Hitachi Carburetor Versions 2 ...

Re: 1983 Yamaha xv920 virago carb help (Springs Popped Out) (Florida) (SOLVED)

Okay awesome yes they fit over perfectly but just okay wanted to make 100% sure The diagram in the Hitachi Article above confirms that is where they go. They had to be physically removed from the screws, during Carburetor rebuild tear down. Any screw that requires to be a settings screw will have a...

The springs are what holds the screws settings in place. Otherwise they can vibrate out of adjustment. See if the s...

Re: 1985 xv700 fuel overflowing through carb (float issue)

I have an issue where one of my carbs overflows with fuel. The needles on each set properly, it's an issue with the floats. I swap floats, the other carb is now the one to leak I have each float set to 18-19mm. I have tested both in water and they both float exactly the same, no air bubbles. I shak...

Re: 1996 XV535 Petcock Issue (Salem OR) (CLOSED SEMI-SOLVED)

EFFFFFF! What are the negative side effects associated with NOT running one? Seeing that the 535 have an inline fuel filter also? The Stand pipes are what the Petcock Reserve fuel system uses to meter the fuel to signal you when to switch the throttle switch cluster from "ON" to "RES" to start usin...
