Re: 1995 XV750 Turns over but doesn't start

Thank you for the quick reply! I'll make sure to attach some pictures but the engine side of the bike is stick besides missing the airbox. The previous owner was bobbing it out and made some cosmetic changes to it like take out the back fender as you would when you bob out a bike. But other than co...

Re: 82 Yamaha Virago XV920 For Sale 2300 miles!

I bought this bike for a project but have decided I don't have time to build another bike. It's an excellent bike to start with, came ready to ride. I have disassembled down to frame and motor. I still have all of the parts except for the tins because I wasn't going to use them and they were just t...

Re: Virago XV535 1991 Issues (UK)

Thank you for the information. I have checked the valves and adjusted as necessary. I also balanced the carbs. It did not seem to make any difference. I attempted to tune the mixtures using the drop rpm technique, with the bike running on 1 cylinder with the other plug out. The screws didn't really...

Re: Virago XV535 1991 Issues (UK)

Thanks for the reply Joe, It has an upper sub tank, which is full of rust and I cannot see the condition of the lower tank, I ordered another lower tank last night so that I can clean it, seal it and atleast know where I stand with that. I have already replaced the fuel filter as the other one was ...

Re: Virago XV535 1991 Issues (UK)

Hi all, I am new to this forum and a new owner of the subject bike. I bought it cheap(ish) a few months ago as I needed something, in a short time frame, to get me to work. It ran terrible when I first got it, no power, barely idled and wouldn't go above 45 Mph. here is a list of thing that I have ...

Re: 1995 XV750 Turns over but doesn't start

So I recently bought a 95 xv750 and the guy that I bought it from had taken off the air filter completely so there was just a hole into the frame. I bought a cheaper pod filter and fitted it to the "airbox". Before I did this the bike would start and run but would bog down because he had adjusted t...

Re: 1984/5 XV1000 Tank removal (UK) (Work-In-Progress)

Hi fellas is it best to take the fuel out first going to get the fuel tank relined and reserve tank when I lay her up for winter  Not real sure about the UK, but, for the U.S. market 1984 and 85 were the only years available for an XV1000. Your Profile indicates 1989. Are you sure it is a 198...

Re: 1996 XV1100 Free Bike with no idea on the state of affairs (HAWAII)

Finally getting it all back together, but I'm stuck. Of course I forgot to take pictures as I took it apart, but can't help that now. There is a ground wire that is attached to the rear brake switch bracket. Where does the other end attach to? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Jason Jason, Fin...

Re: XV1100 fuel filter changes (CLOSED)

Just wondering how or what is your best procedure is for changing out that pain in the butt fuel in the tight area they are in. I myself pinch off fuel line with surgical forceps in prevent fuel flow but dam that is one tight area to work in not my favorite maintenance chore Could you first share w...
