FUEL PUMP (XV1000 & XV1100) How It Works [INFO]

Virago fuel pump issue and solution (XV1000 & XV1100): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0sA1HCB-JU In this video below for an XT1100 (Honda Shadow) towards the end, shows how the Diaphragm Portion of the fuel pump actuates and pumps the fuel. Pouring in the water the way he did wasn't necessary and...

Re: 1995 XV1100 Fuel in the crankcase oil

Thanks for your help Joe I think the second option is a good one. I agree with the meaning of carb being (don’t mess with me) and I don’t have proper place to work on them as I live in an apartment. I drained the oil and may have gotten about 2 pints of gas in the crankcase so if I put a couple qua...

Re: 1995 XV1100 Fuel in the crankcase oil

I have a 95 Virago 1100 and recently found the crankcase site glass to show above the normal amount of oil so I drain the oil only to find gas in the oil So I’ve been reading info on this forum and the DIY article about putting a petcock at the fuel pump to relieve the problem but my question is ho...

Re: 1985 XV1000 Oil flow route [SOLVED]

Yes the holes in your last post are the ones in question. The whole in the oil filter cover must line up exactly with the hole in the right crankcase cover. Mine was actually over 1cm to the right. Imagine the oil filter cover should have been at 1 o'clock(ish) to line up with the right crankcase co...

Re: 1985 XV1000 Oil flow route SOLVED

Well the universe is back in sync again. My oil pressure problem was caused by the wrong oil filter cover been installed on the bike when I got it. As suggested by Greg I got the correct one and oil flows freely. I cant even guess how many hours I spent chasing a ghost that did not exist Thank you ...

Re: 1993 XV750 Carburetors Flooding (Tennessee cyclebum)

Found the problem with the flooding. I am guessing that the 85 I bobbed before had a slightly different carb than this 93. I read something about 88 and up carbs being the same. With that being said, I looked the carbs over again and unplugged the vent pipes that would have hooked to the charcoal c...

XV1000 & XV1100 FUEL TANKS CAPACITIES [INFO]

I've received emails asking about the amount of fuel each fuel tank(s) the XV1000 and XV1100's carry and what the split is between each fuel tank capacity wise (Main Tank and Sub-Tank) and how far you can travel on reserve. Main Tank Fuel Capacity 3.6 Gallons. Sub--Tank Fuel Capacity 0.8 Gallons. To...

Re: How many watts can I count on my 2007 XV250 giving me for lights?

Thanks for the reply Joe. I did see this post and thought that as long as I consumed close to the same wattage then I'd be alright. My thought was that this would be accomplished by adding extra lights? Also, I may be wrong but I swear I saw the rectifier under the seat. Could I potentially move it...

Re: How many watts can I count on my 2007 XV250 giving me for lights?

Good day all, I would like to upgrade all of the lights on the bike to LED's; incandescents just cant hold a candle to the LED's ;) I was just wondering what kind of wattage the run of the mill stock Virago XV250 draws, so I know what my limit may be. Also, If anyone has upgraded their headlight se...
