Re: My stable

That looks like a great project bike, and parts are easy to find. I have that exact bike waiting its turn on the operating table. Although yours is nicer. Re: My stable

Hi Bill,
Been awhile my friend.

Glad to see you added another bike to your collection.

So, what day would you like for me to stop by to help you erect the Bill's Yamaha Cycle and Service Center sign?!

Re: 1983 XV920 New to me, but need help on current carb configuration.

"Virago Godfather" Oh No! There are real Guru's of these bikes that I have learned from that have forgotten more than I'll ever know. I am not worthy to polish there boots! As for the vacuum lines. XV1000 and XV1100's I know for sure that the front and rear carburetors are connected together via vac...

Re: 1984 XV1000 New Virago Owner in Toledo, OH

I'm turning it by putting it in gear and turning the rear tire. It gives some resistance, but turns smooth. I turned it one revolution.....At this point, I'm happy that the engine turns. After an engine sits for a bit, I'm always worried that it's seized. I have the clymer manual for it. I'm still ...

Re: 1984 XV1000 New Virago Owner in Toledo, OH

I don't have a gauge, but the engine wouldn't turn with the plugs in, and made a nice "sucking" sound when I turned the engine after pulling the plugs. I'm guessing the compression is good. I mean, it has some. :) :D I suggest getting a compression gauge. They are cheap. The thread in type. Even an...

Re: 1984 XV1000 New Virago Owner in Toledo, OH

If not Seafoam, then what type of Carburetor cleaner would you recommend?....if any at all. From what I understand, the bike (up until 2 years ago) was maintained fairly religiously. He has 2 other bikes which is why the miles are low, however, I'm not sure how long he had it. I could always find o...

Re: 1984 XV1000 New Virago Owner in Toledo, OH

Just purchased an 84' XV1000 from a long time friend. It only has 4000 miles on it and recently rebuilt carbs. However, after the carbs were redone it sat for the past 2 years due to the owner not being able to ride (hence the reason that he's selling). I'm hoping that I can just throw some gas and...

Re: 1983 XV920 New to me, but need help on current carb configuration.

Hey Joe. Thank you for all of your help. I have time this weekend and I plan on getting to the carbs and seeing how things are inside. I do have one question though that is still bothering me. In the images posted, I see that on the left side there is a line from the gas tank to the carb and to the...

Re: 1986 Virago XV700 - Sputtering / Battery Dying / Not Starting

Having an issue with my 1986 Virago XV700 and looking for some guidance: A few weeks ago I started having an issue where my engine seemed to stop firing on all cylinders momentarily (4-5 seconds) then kick back in. At first it felt like I was running out of gas, but then it would rev back up and ru...
