Re: 1999 Yamaha XV535 Virago (Carbs or Fuel Injected)?

Matt, We don't know where in the world you are located. But, for the U.S. Market 1999 XV535's are carburetor equipped. Look at this schematic below: https://www.cheapcycleparts.com/oemparts/a/yam/500440f3f8700209bc78e6d3/carburetor Yes, your XV535 does have a Fuel Pump. Your main tank sits underneat...

Re: 1990 XV250 poor running

Hi All I have a 1990 XV250 that has always run well - However, it has been sitting in the corner of the garage unstarted for going on two years - The battery was dead and no resurrection processes worked so I put a new one in. Now it starts OK but it will not tick over effectively (cold or hot), wi...

Re: 1991 XV535 New and introducing my Virago

Ditto Joe, But one has to be leg disadvantaged like me to ride that XV535. But yes, it has definitely lots of muscle for only being a 535cc. And it's a darn good cruiser for it's size. At 88 years old this will probably be my last bike, and they will probably have to pry my Cold dead fingers from t...

Re: 1995 XV1100 Choke Lever Replacement [SOLVED]

Thanks but that doesn’t solve my question. If I get a new left control, non OEM, where do I put the choke lever? Since you are opting out and not staying with the OEM Left Handlebar switch assembly. Then this is where your imagination and creativity comes into play. I myself have not done any modif...

Re: 1995 XV1100 Choke Lever Replacement [SOLVED]

I want to replace the left handlebar controls (and right side too) on my 1995 with a universal set. Problem is the manual choke lever connects to the OEM control. Any suggestions on what to do about the choke lever since the less expensive control sets do not have a choke. The one on my bike is sim...

I was able to get the right gap after all. Problem was that I was not at TDC. Watching the timing video on YouTube helped me understand the mechanics. Thanks for the link and suggestions.

Glad to hear you were able to work this out and get the valves adjusted on the front Cylinder.

Re: 1995 XV1100 Valve stem not aligned with rocker arm [SOLVED]

"Perhaps I am not at top dead center even though I have aligned the marks on the crankcase per the manual. Don't know what else to do," Your adjuster and valve stem look to be perfectly lined up on the intake valve of the front cylinder. It looks like you still have tension on that adjuster. Did yo...

Re: 1995 XV1100 Valve stem not aligned with rocker arm [SOLVED]

Trying to do a valve adjustment on the intake valve of the front cylinder. I am finding that the rocker arm and the valve stem are not aligned. The rocker arm is slightly in front of the valve stem such that even if you take the adjusting screw all the way out there is no room to get even the small...
