Are you being sarcastic? because they sound awfully similar to me.

Re: 1995 Virago XV750 new front tire (Mexico City, Mexico)

Yup, we have those really bad, harsh speed bumps here. That's what I'm talking about. I hit them at 40mph+ on my sports bike. I just get up on my feet and let the bike do its job while my head and torso fly leveled. We have a lot of bad bumps on the freeways too: with the frequent earthquakes they c...

Re: 1995 Virago XV750 new front tire (Mexico City, Mexico)

I wonder if the stiffness of the suspension has something to do with it, or the tire pressure. Or like you said: speed. I hardly ever go that slow ;) I may slow down to 20mph in a tight hairpin turn, or spend about 1s in that range when taking off from a stop, or coming down to a stop... I even go >...

Re: 1995 Virago XV750 new front tire (Mexico City, Mexico)

No worries. By the way: speaking of the center groove in tires: as I look at the 404s, there is indeed a grove in the middle, but it's not a straight grove; instead, it zig-zags from side to side. I have never noticed any instability, or following of rain groves on the road. No issues with tar snake...

Joe, you meant 401s/402s, not 404s? The latter are actually good for Viragos.

Re: 1995 Virago XV750 new front tire (Mexico City, Mexico)

Gussl, Since I have a different riding style from Joe, let me share my perspective; and it applies not just to the motorcycles I own, but also to 4-wheelers. I generally don't put a whole lot of miles on any of my vehicles for I've been working from home for 8 years now. 100% agreed with Joe that 5-...

Yeah... the time goes by, the technology gets better, and speed limits only get lower.

Track days are fun, but sometimes I just need to get places quickly!

Re: Wanted: Used dirt bikes (Oakland, California) (SOLVED: 2004 125cc Obtained

It might be, although road trips on the Virago, with my wife serving as my backrest, are pretty sweet, too. The bike is home. I'll proceed with acquiring the shop manual and will start replacing fluids and inspecting vital elements. It rides fine, but it will need a new rear tire, for sure. We'll se...

Re: Wanted: Used dirt bikes (Oakland, California) (SOLVED: 2004 125cc Obtained

Thx Schu. I went to check out both bikes today. First was the 250, and it's really tall. Once on, it felt OK, but I did have to stretch a bit to mount it. The thing is that it was being sold by a re-seller and I just wasn't that confident in its overall condition, although nothing really screamed "r...
