How many miles on your Virago?

I was wondering how many miles y'all have on your Viragos (whether driven by you or previous owners) and what issues (and at what age/mileage) you had to deal with along the way. Whether it's scheduled or belated maintenance (valve lashes, brake lines, brake pads/shoes), or things just failing prema...

Re: 1995 XV1100 trip meter reset knob - broken (Oakland CA) (ON HOLD, PENDING UPDATE)

I finally got to this. I took the speedo off of its mount and used that opportunity to lube the cable... The plastic knob was completely broken and it was too short to do anything with glue. I couldn't find thin tubing to push onto the metal screw... As I was looking around the house I found a tip f...

Re: 1995 XV1100 quality heated grips and AUX headlights? (Oakland CA)

OK, a quick update for those interested: I bought a different LED H4 bulb: https://www.amazon.com/Headlight-Motorcycle-Headlights-Adjustable-Fighter/dp/B07WNN6P9W?th=1 I run two of these in my SV650S and they are about as bright as I was ever able to get and they have lasted me over a year at this p...

Re: 1996 XV750 Brake Light Modulators (New Jersey)

No problem. BTW: I run these in the front parking/turn signal lights: https://www.amazon.com/iBrightstar-Newest-Bright-Projector-replacement/dp/B071FB824J/?th=1 Similar, but amber color, and they don't flash. They are brighter than the standard 27/8W bulbs and they draw a lot less current. If you re...

Re: 1996 XV750 Brake Light Modulators (New Jersey)

I have LED bulbs in the rear brake/parking combo light, and those bulbs do the blinking action on their own, without any extra hardware. I didn't need to modify anything: they use the same 1157 bayonet socket style. I think they are these: https://www.amazon.com/iBrightstar-Flashing-Projector-replac...

Re: 1995 XV1100 quality heated grips and AUX headlights? (Oakland CA)

Thank you. The LED path has been treating me relatively well over the years. I had an LED H4 bulb on my GS500F. When I totalled the bike (long story) I took the bulb and Li-ion battery out before I released the bike to the insurance company. Then I gifted that H4 bulb to my dad. Over the years I put...
