Maybe an annual membership fee is the only way to go? I don't know the stats of how many active users are there, but maybe a $2/year fee or something like that, would cover the hosting fees?

Re: 1985 Virago 700 Carb Issues (California)

You say the front spark plug looks good, and has a good spark. How about the rear cylinder? A picture is worth a thousand words, too ;) running hot is typically a sign of running lean, so maybe the #1 carburetor (rear is #1, front is #2, unlike in real life  ) has some gunk on the jets thus sen...

Re: It's a weakness - Watch & More

No. In fact, I have more. These two are on my desk (too messy to take a picture here, so took them elsewhere), and I have one in my car, as well.
Makes me think... maybe I have an issue?... But all of these were gifted to me, so maybe not...

This one isn't an exact Virago replica, but it's close. We have been using it on our table for 3 years now :)

Re: Planning a long trip

Thx Wingnut! I looked at 89: it is cool. I also spotted Rte 96 nearby there... The way I plan my ride right now is just to open Google Maps, zoom in and look for roads with twists. Then see if there is google street view to verify that the views are indeed good and there is decent pavement. But not ...

Planning a long trip

With the spring ahead of us, I'm thinking about trips to take. I will be doing my "regular" run along Pacific Coast Highway late February, but I'm also thinking about visiting my dear friend in Albuquerque, NM. I consider driving south along the western edge of the Sierras: Hwy 120, 49, 140, Rd 122,...

Re: 95 XV1100 fork oil level (Cloudcroft NM)

Understood. I believe the level is supposed to be measured with the fork fully compressed, but the spring/spacer removed. My recollections is that over the years the fork tubes were enlarged in diameter, and so they needed more and more oil for the same fill %. 372cc is the amount I recall reading l...

Re: 95 XV1100 fork oil level (Cloudcroft NM)

Note that the oil volume is pertinent when using the stock spring, spacer etc. If you're using beefier springs, they take up move volume and that should decrease the oil amount a bit. If you're using a spacer made out of PVC pipe, which again: is a lot thicker than the original, thin steel tube, tha...

Re: 95 1100 Solid new battery: Yuasa? (NM) (SOLVED)

I have the Yuasa AGM battery. Works great. The old one failed due to bad voltage regulator, otherwise I haven't had any issues with it. If you consider a Lithium-ion battery, I wrote extensively about it in another thread. I don't recommend it for the Virago. I have one in my SV650, but Virago's eng...
