Re: This Is Why Your Motorcycle Has a Redline [INFO.]

Ah, growing up I used to drive this big'ol diesel truck with a 16000cc engine (almost 1000 cu.in) with a red line of a whooping 1550 rpm... Speaking of the RevZilla channel, and specifically their "Daily rider" series: I wonder if they would ever put a Virago through their test (maybe sans the off-r...

Yeah, for trying the bike out it's fine, but don't expect much mileage out of it ;)

I have no experience with a chain-driven Virago, but I have other chain-driven bikes. What you're seeing is a worn-out chain, that may have been mistreated, or just wasn't maintained. New chain and sprockets will fix it once and for good. A word of caution: don't try to cheap out. I once did: got my...

Dammit. They already have that in Singapore. Also: all commercial trucks in Europe have that too. And have had for about 30 years. I learned to live with it, although it's easier to stay under the 55mph (90kph) speed limit when driving a severely under-powered semi truck, vs. a fun motorcycle. Every...

Re: Engine Size Identification w/o VIN (Georgia) (CLOSED) Topic is solved

judging from the looks, the green one is probably a 535. My father has one and I remember that it only has speedometer, not both speedo and tachometer like my 1100.

Granted, someone could've changed things around, but if it's stock then I'd research that feature to confirm the model.

Is this something you bought, or did you mount a stick thermometer in there yourself?

Either way: it gets a thumbs up from me.

Haven't tried it. I'm busy with house renovations for the next few weeks. I'll make sure to drop a line here when I get to this. I'm not sure though that it will be a quick fix without taking the odometer apart. The piece is broken deep inside. I'm a bit afraid to use crazy glue, risking that I'll f...
