Re: Flyscreens [SOLVED]
Joe, I bet Miss Behaven is up from her winter nap. I wonder if you may have a moment to take a full-frontal picture of the windscreen and take a couple of measurements of the windscreen? and maybe a close-up on the way it mounts? I'm eager to find something that I can put on my bike this season. I h...

Re: 1992 XV1100 Suspension too hard (Lawrenceville NJ USA)
Ironforger, I'm not sure about the quality of the pavement around your part of the country. Over here, in urban areas it's almost like a 3rd world. Once you get out into the countryside, it's a 50/50 bet: it'll either be smooth as silk, or beat up, just like cities. I'd love a plush ride, but then w...

Re: How many miles on your Virago?
Wow. Luckily I don't deal with too much wind here, and the bike is parked between a fence and a tree, so it's kinda sheltered there.

Re: 1992 XV1100 Suspension too hard (Lawrenceville NJ USA)
What I'm thinking now is that maybe you (Ironforger) have bought a bike with beefy aftermarket springs already installed? if that's the case, let's chat via message and I'm happy to send you my stock springs that I'm sure I will not be putting back in. I'd only ask you to cover the shipping cost and...

Re: How many miles on your Virago?
Thx a lot Gary!
I also don't have enough garage space to keep the bike in, but I have a good cover for it.

Re: 1992 XV1100 Suspension too hard (Lawrenceville NJ USA)
Wow! That's a first. I don't mean to offend you or anything, but most everyone has the exact opposite issue: suspension being too soft, leading to it bottoming out and hitting you hard. Before you go down the road of making it softer, please make sure that you're not confusing too soft with too hard...

Re: 1983 XV920 single carb conversion issue (Location in U.S.?)
My memory of the post from the gentleman from Florida was fuzzy. You're right: he modified the intake manifold to make it work. I kinda-sorta recall that he did something to the exhaust as well, but I'm not sure. That may have been a separate thing, nothing to do with the carb. I think he stated the...

Re: 1983 XV920 single carb conversion issue
Regarding the carbs: someone recently posted here about solving the issue by modifying the exhaust. More specifically: making sure that the front and rear cylinder have the same length "pipe". The way the bike is stock, the front has a lot longer exhaust path than the rear. I don't remember the deta...

Re: 1993 XV750 How to open the instruments? (Copenhagen, Denmark) (SOLVED)
As far as removing the bulb goes: you just need to carefully pull by the wires, or try to pry off the rubber seat that holds the bulb. The entire instrument as such is not meant to be opened, but you can get access to the back of it. The repair manual is extensive and comprehensive, but you will fin...

Re: 1992 XV1100 Tire recommendations? Cruiser or touring? (Lawrenceville NJ USA)
You can also dial that in based on the load rating of the tire. If you feel inclined to do so, you can put as beefy of a tire as you like, but you will get a harsh ride. You do not want to put too soft of a tire, either, for it may blow up on you. Stock tires have a "57" load rating for the front (5...
