Re: 1983 XV920 New to me, but need help on current carb configuration.

I was having issues with mine as well. It would only run for short test rides up and down the street before it acted like it was running out of gas. I'd let it set for a couple of minutes then it would fire back up and I'd be able to make it back home. And this was after rebuilding both carbs. So I ...

Yep!! I even keep them in the cloud on my Google Drive. Just in case my phone decides to die and I'm broke down... which is actually my luck. :|

Re: 1995 XV1100 stumbling, failing at low RPM and popping

I just wanted to put it out there since our intake manifold boot bolts are hard to get to and just a pain in the a#@, I'm switching bolts to an Allen head bolt. I just got back from Lowes and threaded it in and it works!! The size is M6-1.00 X 20. Each package contains two bolts and are about $2.75 ...

Re: 1995 XV1100 stumbling, failing at low RPM and popping

Does anyone have the specs to convert the 10mm manifold boot bolts to Allen head like EricksonSouza has?? My local True Value has eliminated a lot of their stock nuts and bolts. And trying to eyeball the threads and diameter with an old pair of eyeballs is well... daunting. Got new manifold boots, m...

Re: 1992 750 Grips

I thought my bike specs are under my avatar pic. :? It's a '92 750D. Ok I just didn't know if that tab was really "needed". I'll just trim it off because the mirror bracket will have that gap too when tightened down. I probably should've taken the controls off to show you the complete tab, it's a wi...

It's in between the throttle controls and the mirror bracket.

1992 750 Grips

I have new grips as the previous owner put leather wraps that turn into tassels on the stock grips. They are bothersome in the wind constantly hitting my arms and in my face when trying to work on the bike. They glued the leather to the stock grips so I don't want to destroy them. Two things... 1: A...

Re: 1984 Virago 1000 dies after riding awhile

Me personally, I'd take the carbs off and see exactly what condition they are in. Rebuild kits are the complete fix. Good to do for several reasons... You know exactly the condition of the carbs You'll last longer on the road knowing and having rebuilt carbs You won't waste money on "might work" met...

I was thinking about doing this in the near future. Just to help get more air in cause it does seem like it's a little choked.

Re: Show us your ride!!

Thanks!! I had to rebuild both carbs, replace #2 spark plug boot and put front brakes on. It fires up with no choke. Thanks to YouTube, I was able to rebuild both carbs myself. I really haven't been able to really take it out for a cruise yet. Just a few test runs.
