Why is a Virago hard to start when cold?

Basically, my question is why is a Virago hard to start from cold on a cold wintery sort of a day? I go out and try to start her up. I use full choke. Sometimes she will just flood as I can smell the petrol and so I'll leave her be for around 20 minutes, then try again. Most often she will fire up (...

Re: 1993 XV535 UK Backfiring.

Hey Tommy (waves from Western Australia) I'm also on my first bike. It's an 88 XV400 but very like your bike. I also had a backfiring issue that would normally manifest after around 30 minutes of riding, then she would backfire and even die when I came to a stop. My issue then was her old carbs were...

Hi Eric (waves madly) Welcome to an awesome forum. More info needed though. Are your rear indicators not working at all?

Windshields

A friend of mine in Australia who rides a late model 250cc V-Star is wondering if a windshield would help reduce wind-buffeting. She also has coms in her helmet and they are effected by wind-noise. Would fitting a windshield help? and what are the pros and cons of having a windshield on a cruiser?

Re: Turn Signals OEM Conversion To LED's

This place....
https://www.superbrightleds.com/
..... sells the Metric Bike Diode Kit. it's a pretty easy fit and will make LED indicators function properly on a Virago. It's about $3.00 bucks plus postage.

Thanks to Joe for allowing this post :P

Re: Switching to LEDs

Hey you guys. I got permission to add this post. I found a great site where they seem to sell everything for a good LED conversion on a Virago.

These guys also sell the Bike Diode Kit thingy that makes your indicators work properly. Less than $3.00 bucks. :D

Re: Switching to LEDs

A new turn signal relay fixed my problem of very slow flash rate for my indicators. They now flash at an appropriate speed. Found out the old relay was more for a car than a bike. My new relay was this one from eBay: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/134Y4-YAMAHA-XV250-XV535-XV700-XV750-XV920-XV1000-XV110...

Re: Turn Signals OEM Conversion To LED's

Seems the XV400 and XV535 are wired up a bit differently from the XV700 (as seen in Joe's vid). The turn-signal relay is a simple thing, easy to get to (under the right pod), and only has the two connections. I experimented with some LED lights on my bike and these were the results (the standard rel...
